Following the resounding success of Libya's first annual economic review, The Report: Libya 2008, Oxford Business Group (OBG), the highly acclaimed global publishing, research and consultancy firm, and the General People's Committee (GPC) of Industry, Economy and Trade, have renewed their partnership for the production of the second edition of the authoritative investment guide to the country.

Jana Treeck, OBG's Country Director for Libya said: "We are delighted to be back in Libya to produce a wholly updated and new economic report on the country and are proud to continue our cooperation with the GPC of Industry, Economy and Trade, which has provided invaluable aid in carrying out our research."

She continued: "As a result, The Report: Libya 2008 has been a tremendous success. Being most comprehensive and accurate English-language review on the Libyan economy available internationally, it has become one of our most requested reports. Naturally, there is continual international demand for further up-to-date information on Libya."

Under the auspices of Mohamed Huwaij, Secretary of the GPC of Industry, Economy and Trade, the agreement for the production of The Report: 2009 was signed on 11 June by Taher Sarkez, Undersecretary of the GPC of Industry, Economy and Trade, and Jana Treeck. The partnership merges OBG's extensive international expertise and the local knowledge of the GPC.

The Report: Libya 2009 will be written by a team of seasoned OBG analysts and researchers that will be based in Tripoli for several months. It will feature a wide range of interviews with the most prominent personalities from business and politics and analyse the latest trends and developments in all major sectors of the economy including energy, finance, industry, real estate, construction, transport and tourism.

"A rapidly increasing number of international companies is looking to enter the Libyan market, but are unsure of how to go about it and in need of a reliable, accurate assessment of the current economic conditions in the country. For those, The Report: Libya is becoming an indispensable guide that provides detailed information on Libya's economic development and outlines the attractive business and investment opportunities the country has to offer," Mohamed Huwaij said.

"The compilation of high-quality analysis is a crucial component in achieving our aim of attracting foreign direct investment to the country. Therefore, our partnership with OBG is a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to foster international interest in our economy and to thereby achieve its full potential," he added.

The Report: Libya 2008 was launched in February this year at a Tripoli conference that was attended by top Libyan government officials as well as leading members of the local and international business community. It includes numerous high profile contributions.

With a distribution of more than 80,000 copies on a local and international level, The Report: Libya 2008 has not only proven to be an important reference tool for the global business and investment community, but, being the first of its kind, it also serves as a research base for leading international media outlets, such as CNN and Newsweek.
