The Council of Arab League meeting in Cairo on Wednesday issued a communiqué strongly condemned the unfair measures undertaken by Switzerland which issued a list of names of officials and prominent Libyans to prevent from entering any Schengen state in Europe.
The Council said Switzerland should not the European sphere for political purposes.
"The Council of the League, after hearing the presentation by the Secretary of the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation regarding its dispute with Switzerland and hearing the interventions of their excellencies the Ministers, condemns the unilateral Swiss authorities' measures by issuing a list of names of officials and prominent Libyans to prevent them from entering any Schengen state in Europe," the communiqué said.
The Council demanded that EU countries not to abide by such list.
The Council's 133rd meeting reviewed a Libyan memorandum explaining the dispute between Tripoli and Bern after which most Arab delegations expressed their strong support to and solidarity with the Libyan position.
These delegations include Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Dijbouti, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Tunisia, Sudan, Somalia and Jordan.
"The council reassures the solidarity of Arab states with Libya in this dispute and demands Swiss authorities to nullify the list it has issued as it is of racist nature and in violation of related international agreements and conventions," the communiqué said.
