A Libyan aid convoy carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza has crossed the Egyptian borders and entered the Palestinian territory of Gaza Monday evening, the Libyan news agency JANA reported on Tuesday.
20 tonnes of humanitarian aid including medical equipments, medicine, ambulances and electricity generators crossed to the Palestinian side of Gaza from Egypt.
Libyan airplanes carrying aid consignments arrived in Al-Arish airport in Egypt on Monday and later the convoy drove to the east to Rafah Crossing. The Libyan Charge d’Affairs in Egypt held talks at Al-Arish airport with the Egyptian Governor of Sinai General Mohammad Shusta during which an agreement was reached as on the arrangements of delivering Libyan aid to Gaza.
The Palestinian Red Crescent received the Libyan aid convoy as it passed the Rafah Crossing. The crossing has been closed for over a year by Egyptian and Israeli authorities with the main purpose to starve 1.5 million Palestinians and pressure Hamas to relinquish demands to end Israeli occupation.
Political tension between Libya and Egypt increased in the last few days since Israel started committing a crime against the Palestinian people in Gaza on 27 December and has since killed over 345 people and injured more than 800 innocent people.
Egypt is seen by Arabs and Muslims as well as freedom lovers around the world as being accomplice in the Israeli crime by not opening Rafah Crossing for starving Palestinians and those who are escaping the Zionist killing military machine.
